Who chooses Sophy &Co.?

Everyone who would rather build scalable software than deal with manual admin. Whether you're writing code for clients around the world or scaling a tech startup, we take the work off your hands and make sure your bookkeeping runs fully automated.

Developers
You write the code, we handle the numbers. Whether you work through an intermediary or directly for international clients, we make sure your invoicing and VAT reverse-charging are always ‘bug-free’. Benefit: maximum deduction on your hardware and gear through the KIA scheme.
Software consultants
As a consultant, you sell expertise. We advise you on the most tax-efficient way to structure your business costs and mobility (lease or personal car). Benefit: always insight into your billable hours and profit per project.
Startup founders
Building the next unicorn? We help you in the early stages: from choosing a BV structure to preparing your admin for your first investment round. Benefit: no administrative hassle, so you can focus 100% on product-market fit.
SaaS entrepreneurs
International scalability means complex VAT rules (such as the OSS scheme). We automate the link between your payment system (Stripe/Mollie) and your bookkeeping. Benefit: sell worldwide without VAT headaches.
Tax debugging
Administratie wordt simpel met Sophy &Co.

Free IT tax scan

In the IT sector, everything changes fast, except the Dutch Tax Administration's rules. Many IT entrepreneurs leave money on the table with international licenses or make mistakes with VAT reverse-charging for foreign clients. Curious whether your setup is tax-optimal?

Sophy & Co. takes a free look with you in 15 minutes.

What do we check for you?

  • International invoicing: Are you correctly handling VAT on licenses or development work for clients outside the EU (such as the US or UK)?
  • Hardware & cloud infrastructure: Are you making the most of the KIA scheme (investment deduction) for your servers, monitors, and high-end workstations?
  • 30%-ruling: Are you entitled to the tax benefits for highly skilled migrants (for yourself or your team)?
  • WBSO & Innovation Box: Are you using all the available tax breaks for the software you develop yourself?

The result:
Within fifteen minutes, you'll know whether your admin is ready for the next sprint. You'll get 3 practical tips right away to lower your tax burden and further automate your admin.

“Focus on your code, we make sure you keep more at the bottom line.”

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our service

What we can do specifically for your creative business

This is the most frequently asked question. A BV usually becomes attractive at a profit of around €80,000 to €100,000, or when you carry significant financial risk (for example, with complex software implementations). A BV protects your personal assets and can be more tax-efficient for reinvesting your profit. During the free scan, we calculate exactly what the best choice is for your stage.

Selling software abroad can be complex:

  • B2B within the EU: You reverse-charge the VAT to your client (0% VAT on the invoice).
  • B2B outside the EU (e.g. USA): You often charge 0% VAT (“export”).
  • SaaS to consumers (B2C): Here you'll deal with the OSS scheme, where you pay VAT based on the client's country.
Sophy & Co. automates these rules, so your invoicing is always correct, no matter where your client is.

At Sophy & Co., we work with fixed packages so you know exactly where you stand. For IT freelancers, this starts from just €49 per month. For startups and SaaS entrepreneurs with staff or international operations, we put together a tailored proposal, including our app and unlimited advice on your hardware investments.

If your hardware costs more than €450, you officially have to depreciate it over 5 years. However, thanks to the KIA (investment deduction), you can often deduct an extra 28% of the purchase amount directly from your profit. We make sure you never miss this discount when buying new gear or servers.

This is a grey area that the Dutch Tax Administration checks closely. In most cases, a workspace in a rented or owned home is not deductible, unless it has its own entrance and bathroom. However, the furnishings (your desk, ergonomic chair, monitor) are often deductible as a business investment. We check exactly what's possible in your situation during the free scan.

If you hire a developer from abroad (or are one yourself), 30% of the salary can be paid out tax-free. This is a powerful tool for attracting talent. We handle the application and the correct processing in the payroll administration, so both employer and employee benefit fully.
